How to Fix Faulty Key Repairs
A broken key fob can make your life miserable. With the right tools and guidelines it's easy to fix these issues.

Check for any debris that has gotten caught under the key that is damaged. Breadcrumbs and other debris may get stuck beneath keys, which can prevent the keys from being pushed in correctly.
Broken Car Keys
It's easy to take your car keys for granted until they stop working or break at the worst possible moment. If your car keys don't work, it could be a nightmare to open your trunk in order to grab groceries, unlock your doors to go to a place, or start your engine in order to get to work.
Over time, keys to cars can become worn out. A knock or drop can cause damage, and the internal parts can wear out to the point that they no longer work. This is a big problem since it means you aren't able to drive unless you have a spare key or your mechanic fix the issue.
Most broken car keys are easily repaired or replaced. If the key is damaged inside the lock or ignition you can take out the remaining portion of the key with pliers or coated wire. A locksmith may offer you a set of special tools designed to slide into the key and then apply a pincer-like grip on the broken pieces to securely pull them out.
Super glue can be used to fix a broken car key. It is a quick and easy fix. This is a little tricky because you need to ensure that the pieces are properly aligned, but the results are very effective. Keep a pair or scissors and a roll tape on hand in case you need to alter the alignment.
Another option to repair temporarily a broken car key is to replace the battery on the key fob. This is typically the best option in case your car key fob isn't turning on and you don't have the correct replacement. Depending on the model of vehicle, you could often do this by removing the key fob and then opening it using a screwdriver or small tool.

Broken Key Fobs

These contact pads are rubber-like and are coated in an electrically conducting film that will eventually fade over time. You can clean your key fob contacts with cotton swab to remove any corrosion.
You could also try using a pair or tweezers to put the contacts back on your key fob if you suspect they are broken or loose. If you do this, it is an excellent idea to put some silicone on the back of your key fob prior inserting the new contacts. Silicone will make the contacts more secure and keep out water.
A key fob that is not working could be because it was not connected to the vehicle. When you hit a key fob it sends the car a message that informs it of what you're trying to do. If recommended you read is not paired, it will not recognize the car and will not allow you to start the engine.
If you can't get your key fob to re-pair with your vehicle, it's likely to contact a locksmith or dealer technician. They'll have the equipment required to reprogram the fob and make it work. Unresponsive Keys

You could also try reinstalling the drivers for your keyboard to fix the issue. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause your keyboard to stop working, so you should always keep them updated whenever you can.
The key might be damaged. Key switches are made up of two circuits, and they may wear out over time until the point that they cannot longer recognize the press. If this is the situation, it is best to replace the keyboard as the keyboard won't function properly.
If you've tried all these solutions but the keyboard does not respond you're in need of an expert examine your laptop keyboard or an external computer keyboard. It could be that the membrane that covers your keyboard is damaged, or that one of the keys are damaged.
You can test the keys with a keyboard tester. The website will inform you whether the keys are registered correctly or not. If they're registered correctly in the latter, it's most likely a software issue. Then, you can begin applying the other fixes to restore full functionality. You could also consider using an external keyboard for a temporary solution until the internal keyboard is repaired or replaced.
Keys that aren't working
It's a pain when keys don't work however, they're usually easy to repair. A malfunctioning button could be caused by a piece or grime under the button or it could be due to the fact that it cannot be connected properly to your laptop or keyboard. If you're unsure whether this is the case, begin by cleaning the keys and using canned air to blow out dust and dirt.
The key could be disaligned. This is another problem that can be solved by a professional, though it is more likely to require replacement of the key. If your car key is electronic and can't be changed by pressing a metal manual key into the ignition, it's likely that the transponder chip inside has stopped working, and you'll need to have a new one programmed.
Try a key test website in the event that your laptop or external keyboard keys are not responding. This can help you figure out if there's software interference or problems with the keyboard itself.
Another reason why one key not performing its function is because the switch isn't working correctly. If you have mechanical keyboards you can look under the keycap and observing if there is any debris stuck to it. If you find anything, make use of canned air to remove it and then remove the cap. This will allow you to replace the hooks that connect the retainer to the switch, and hopefully bring back functionality to the key.
If you have a keyboard key that isn't performing the intended function only in one program, then it's likely that the keyboard settings of the game have assigned the key to a different action. Check the keyboard's settings and press the key once more to see whether it's functioning properly. If it's not, it's better to purchase a new keyboard and have it installed by an experienced. This is especially true in the case of games that require the use of a lot of keyboards.
